Response;

I disagree with the statement that that One Laptop per Child is a neo-colonial trojan horse because I believe that regardless of if they are controlled by a government or not, its beneficial for them not only as a individual who owns it, but as a nation. It is a great way for these 3rd world countries to basically keep up to date with the rest of the world. The world we live in today is very technological driven, and OLPD is giving these kids basically those resources to stay current. It also creates a sense of awareness among everyone else, and becomes not only a sense for education, but also a social network for the people involved.
It is not a sense really of controlling because the person has the choice to use the computer or not. These Laptops really are a sense of identity too, giving it to people who really did not have a sense of identity before. In a world today, especially living here in the GTA it is almost impossible to think of how the world would be without access to a computer, laptop or the web for that sense. Now even cell phones can access all that, its amazing how cell phones have evolved into something more flexible and bigger than actual computers. Phones do it all now, really, they do.
